We all know of Miami as a place for scantily clad sun worshippers in bathing suits, but there’s a lot to be seen just outside and a quick drive away from downtown. Big Cypress National Preserve is a beautiful park maybe about a 45 minute drive depending on traffic, but a million years in the past. The cypresses growing out of the tangled overgrowth and the peeking through the swamps are seriously magical. You would not be mistaken to think that at any minute a dinosaur might come crashing through the brush.
Take a visit if you get a chance, lots of good resources for planning a quick trip – Big Cypress At National Park Service.
