This was one of the popular ones that kept popping up this past year and features in our 2015 round up. The MIND diet is an effort to specifically promote a healthy mind, or more specifically brain and has been suggested to combat Alzheimer’s, or at least lower the risk by as much a 35 percent.
The MIND diet borrows from both the Mediterranean diet and from the DASH Diet. What’s nice about it in our opinion is that it definitely allows for a lot of variation when it comes to potential recipes. The sad thing is that it does phase out all the wonderful things like butter and cheese, boo.
There are generally speaking a good ten some odd items on the fully approved list and about five on the no-go list. Most of the items on the no go list are pretty easy to drop, some not so much.
All in all not a bad diet and hardly a food killer, it is much more about eating balanced meals rather than having absolutes.
