We’re going to kick off this section with a first for what will be a whole list of places to get out and see the world, while engaging in healthy activity that we all love. If we ae all going to have to torture ourselves by our addiction to running and for those of us diehards, marathons, then why not travel to beautiful and historic destinations to do it, right?
The Tiberias Marathon was started back in 1977 and is held along the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. It was, and of course still is, Israel’s first international marathon event. Participants can run both a full and a half marathon, it’s a double back to the start. For anyone who hasn’t been out to that neck of the woods yet it is a beautiful area of the country, needless to say steeped in history, while flying past on runners high there is absolutely no reason why you should feel that you’re a crusader storming down from the plains, or retreating, or maybe even Jesus walking on water… lots of nifty hallucinations of grandeur to be had.
We’ll point out that these days considering all of the unrest in Syria and the Middle East in general you might want to do a little research as to whether or not this is the year to go.
