With the coming announcement and not too distant release of the Apple Watch, it’s probably not a bad time for us to do a little quick digging across older sites and posts and to provide a fair comparison of other sport watch wearables health and fitness tech out there. When the Samsung Gear came out it looked pretty cool and was of course really the first name brand “smart watch” out there. This does date back to August 2014, so take it all with a grain of salt. Here’s the run down Tech Radar:
“Samsung claims another world’s first with its Android Wear smartwatch debut, tied as usual with LG. On the outside, Gear Live is almost exactly like its previous watches, but the Google software on the inside makes worth the time of early adopters.”
“Update: Our Samsung Gear Live review now cites new smartwatch competition and we revised Page 5 with newly discovered Android Wear apps. Face it, your smartphone is getting bigger whether you like it or not, and Samsung’s popular, but ridiculously sized, phablets are chief among the super-sized phones. For this very reason, the Samsung Gear Live feels increasingly relevant. Its Google-powered Android Wear software safely relocates our notification-checking addiction to the wrist.”
